Part developer, part product manager, part designer . . . all AI-native.
The Product Builder
One of the newest roles to emerge in the AI Age is the Product Builder. Companies everywhere are looking for this new entry+ employee because Builders have the mind of a product manager, the skills of a developer, and the eye of a designer, and they pull it all together with an AI-native approach to work.
Builders are versatile
The ability to identify pain points, design solutions, and then build those solutions is an incredibly versatile skillset that can be used in multiple contexts.
There are two ways that companies are utilizing Product Builders—to build their products and to scale their organizations.
The external Builder
Certain companies are pointing their Product Builders outwards toward the customer.
These Builders use their superpowers to build, enhance, and maintain companies’ products, driving growth and retention.
The internal Builder
While other companies are pointing their Product Builders inwards toward their functional departments.
These Builders use their superpowers to understand the pain points of legal, finance, HR, etc. and build AI-centric solutions to enable companies to scale more rapidly and profitably.
Not Vibe Coders
Product Builders aren’t vibe coders. They have the ability to understand customer needs, the vision to know what solution to build, and the technical capabilities to get it done . . . combined with their deep understanding of AI and how to use it to supercharge their productivity and the effectiveness of the software they build.
Pega6 Product Builder Résumé
The very first thing we did was create a résumé with the skills, competencies, and experiences of the ideal experienced Product Builder. Then we worked backwards to design a 12-month regiment of software builds designed to produce that ideal Builder.
This approach not only enabled us to create the perfect experiential curriculum, but it will also allow us to produce an incredible level of consistency in the quality of our graduates. Students will know who they’ll become and employers will know who they’ll be hiring.
